Welcome to the new STORZ MEDICAL building in Jena

New Lancet study warns of global dementia cases tripling by 2050

On 3 May 2021, STORZ MEDICAL received the 510(k) clearance for the MAGNETOLITH® from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The therapy device is now cleared in the USA (as a class II medical device) for the following indications:

  • Relaxation of muscle spasms
  • Prevention or retardation of disuse atrophy
  • Increase local blood circulation
  • Muscle re-education
  • Immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf muscles to prevent venous thrombosis
  • Maintaining or increasing range of motion

In the everyday practice of treating orthopaedic and sport-related diseases, not only are suitable conventional medical treatments of great importance, but also quick, precise and simple localisation of the pathological changes in the tissues to be examined, such as connective tissue, fascia, tendon and muscle. In these tissue types, the points and regions to be located are characterised by increased density, increased volume and increased pressure sensitivity, among other factors. Existing localisation options such as manual palpation or elastography are firstly time-consuming and painful, and secondly not commonly used and expensive in terms of equipment.

Parkinson's disease: World's first clinical trial for shock wave treatment

In 2019 the NEUROLITH® shock wave system was successfully introduced to the market. The Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) device, which was developed by STORZ MEDICAL in Switzerland, is the only medical device marketed in Europe that is approved in the European Union for the treatment of the central nervous system of patients with Alzheimer's disease. NEUROLITH installation: in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, the »Rudolfinerhaus Privatklinik« in Vienna, Austria, relies on Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS)

Throughout the world, more and more specialised medical centres are using Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) with the NEUROLITH® system for the treatment of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. In June 2020, another NEUROLITH® system was installed successfully at the private hospital »Rudolfinerhaus Privatklinik« in Vienna, Austria, where it will be used under the medical direction of Dr Matthias Geisler. On-site training of the hospital’s treatment team was carried out by Dr Henning Lohse-Busch (Rheintalklinik, Bad Krozingen, Germany) who also played a decisive role in the development of TPS.
