An exceptional tennis event:
In March 2011, Zurich/Switzerland finally returned to the map of world tennis – with a worldwide new and unique concept: the »BNP Paribas Zurich Open – where champions meet talents«. Two generations of players: former legendary tennis champions as well as the world's best talents played in Zurich in separate round robin formats (analogue to the ATP Masters) and in a combined doubles competition.
Legendary champions like Mark Philippoussis, Tim Henman, Goran Ivanisevic, Henri Leconte, Ivan Lendl, Thomas Muster, Pete Sampras and Michael Stich demonstrated their great skills in Zurich. Standing ovations from the excited spectators in a crowded venue. Eight of the best U18 talents – based on their position in the ITF junior rankings – also participated in the BNP Paribas Zurich Open.
The competition at the BNP Paribas Zurich Open
Champions and talents competed each in two separate groups of four in a round robin format followed by a small final for third place (second placed of each group) and the final for the championship (first placed of each group).
Another »Champion« of BNP Paribas Zurich Open was the DUOLITH® SD1 »T-Top«. The unit, provided by the reputated Schulthess clinic Zurich and accompanied by Dr Kerstin Warnke, who works now as supervising physician at the medical center »Sportmedizin Zentralschweiz«, a project of the Luzerner State clinic and MedBase, was in daily use and most of the legendary champions appreciated the fine treatment of various soft tissue complaints. DUOLITH® SD1 »T-Top« kept them in great shape throughout the whole tournament.
